When a tank is the right call
If your current tank served you fine for a decade and you want hot water back today at the lowest installed cost, a like-for-like tank replacement is usually the answer. Modern tanks are better insulated and slightly more efficient than what came out, and the plumbing already fits. We size by household: 40 gallons for 1–2 people, 50 for 3–4, and we’ll tell you honestly if your old one was undersized.
Installed to code, not just connected
Bloomington inspections check more than the water lines. Depending on your setup, code now requires an expansion tank, a drain pan with a piped drain, a proper T&P discharge line, seismic strapping is not required here but bonding may be, we quote whatever your install actually needs upfront, pull the Monroe County permit, and schedule the inspection for you.

Gas or electric, should I switch?
Usually stay with what you have; switching means new gas line or new circuit. Gas heats faster and costs less to run in Bloomington; electric is simpler and cheaper to install. We’ll price both if you’re curious.

Do I really need the permit?
Yes, Monroe County requires one for water heater replacement, and an unpermitted install can bite you at home-sale inspection. Ours includes it; be wary of quotes that don’t.
